| I have a chance to buy a St Croix Triumph 7'6" med hvy musky rod, 3/4 to 4 oz lures for $85 new. I know most of the talk about rods are the high end models, but what are the thoughts about the Triumph rods. They look like a well made rod and the price is very reasonable. Any input would be appreciated. davemp |

| Can anyone tell me why this is just a good starter rod and not a good rod to use at any level? This is not a cheap rod as it retails for $150. Not everyone can afford to spend $200 and up for a rod unless maybe that's all you fish for. davemp |

| Correction to my posts. It handles 3/4 to 3oz lures and it retails for $140 not $150. If I get it I would use it for smaller musky lures and also us it for pike, catfish and maybe carp. davemp |

| If it fits into ur arsenal, yea I would buy it. It's a St. Croix musky rod, at a good price. It's designed like a Premier built outside the states. In my opinion though, I don't think it would make a good catfish or carp rod. I think the best catfish rods have a blend of glass incorporated in the blank,giving the rod a more moderate action, and carp rods require a sensitive tip. Again, not saying u can't use it for those fish, it's just my opinion. kdawg |

Location: Oconomowoc, WI | They are nice rods, but I don’t think they make a rod in that series that is longer than 7’6”. That would have been the norm 10-15 years ago, but most guys are using longer rods for better figure 8’s and ease of casting big baits. Nowadays 9’ rods have become commonplace with many guys going to 9’6” and even 10’.

Location: Vilas | If youre happy with it, buy it. Dont get caught up in all the hype of you have to have a different rod for every application BS. How did they ever catch muskies years ago with a 5'5" Pflueger rod and four lures?... they caught them just fine |

| Same Mojo Muskie rods are very well made having back-bone and sensitivity (needed for jerk - pull baits). They seemed reasonable for St Croix, I never even new they made rods for under $80.00? Unfortunately spent my limit for rods for next??, over a grand in the last 10 years.

Location: Rockford, IL USA | I've been musky fishing for just a little over 20 years. I've used several different length rods from several different manufacturer's. I currently have a 8'0 Mojo Musky and a 8'0 Top & Tail Legend Tournament. I really don't think the name brand matters. I'm sure you'll be happy with the Triumph. I've sunk a little more money into my rods and they only get used one week a year. |
