| So does one gain more from camping on one system through out the year learning how to fish it during all situations. Or running to the lake with the hot bite? assuming a bigger system.

Location: Already Gone | Maybe when I was younger I liked to camp. But now whenever I leave town to fish, I'll find a nice inexpensive motel or motor lodge to make home. Sleeping on the ground in the rain is not for me anymore. Especially late Fall. |

| I don't think the original question has anything to do with actually camping. Just means staying in one place fishing one lake through all conditions vs. jumping to other lakes.
In my limited experience I've fished a ton of different lakes but am starting to think I need to tough it out on one to learn it better. |

HA! So true! That said, if it's a new body of water that you have never fished before, my advice is to camp. You really need to put your time in to learn and master the nuances of any system.
Once you're really familiar with it, moving to other lakes makes some sense. But I would rather master two or three lakes than chase my tail on a dozen of them.

| I'm a roamer. I fish not necessarily to catch fish but to enjoy the environments different lakes provide. If I was obsessed on catching fish I would likely zero in on one lake. |

| That is an interesting question, and maybe the caveat is the "bigger size" comment at the end.
I do love to learn a system completely, but I do find that I love the adventure of new and different lakes even more, so I would lean toward the new lakes, maybe not even the "hot bite" lakes.

| I like to pick 3 lakes and camp between them, as weather dictates. This allows me more fishing days.
Camping and geting to know one lake a sea son can also get a little boring.

| I have 3 lakes I primarily fish throughout the year, due to various reasons such as geography, or just enjoying fishing these lakes. I try to fish one or two new bodies a year just for fun - usually don't catch anything but I enjoy the scenery. And I try to learn one new body a year for actual wanting to catch fish on it - fishing it as much as I can afford to or my patience allows. Sometimes those new lakes replace my usual stable and sometimes I say "F that place!" I have one lake in mind this year that is known to produce some giants and has a lot of the structure I enjoy fishing. The drive might be a little much though, ma be time to rock the tent. |

| being on l.st clair we sometimes do big runs. finding clean water,sheltered areas from winds or bait.some days not uncommon for runs of 10-15 miles..one thing when the bites on its on across the lake. find the fish and grind them. |

| Between work and eventual family commitments, I take the approach of investing in a handful of lakes that I know I'll be fishing the next few decades. I value long-term consistency more than I value getting on a hot bite. |

| I’m tempted to continue the feigned conversation with “camping,” but I will bite on the concept of chasing the hot lake. At my Vilas cabin, I can reach a hundred lakes in an hour. If I have reliable intel on a hot bite on one of them, I’m going there. I don’t have time at 70 to prove what I can do, I’ll use the free advice, thank you very much, then try to figure why that lake is hot and duplicate the fact on a lake I can keep to myself! |
