Good start to the annual egg take. Helped the DNR run 6 traps on Webster this morning (24 hours +/- after the traps were set). Roughly 50 fish. Biggest was 42+". The fish from the Backwater traps were mostly tagged fish from spring stockings. The spring stocked fish had grown to 32-36" in 4-5 years, and included ripe females. All of the fish were solid, fat and (apparently) well fed. One VERY large LMB (guessing 7-8 lbs). Loads of Crappie to 12". Loads of Bullheads, especially in Backwaters. Very few Yellow Perch. Not many rough fish (some gar, carp and Bowfin), but the ones in the nets were big.
