I might actually have my boat back with a functioning trailer and engines (it's a Sukkot Miracle) by Saturday....anyone know if the Chain is open for causing sadness? Ie. ice free.

Hey Slamr,

unless I need glasses, I think the chain is wide open.
Pretty sure

I believe the water is too high for a boat right now. A lot of docks under water.

Yep, made my usual way out yesterday, on Catherine first. Always try to get out on or around April 8th. So many different waterfowl and white pelicans. Nice clear water, at 45 to 47 degrees depending. Have a very special relationship with Catherine so I hung around my usual haunts longer... but not much doing. SE winds not my favorite either.

Saw slamr on Channel with about 18 lines out and a full boat. Trying hard I'm sure.
Lots of the usual suspects out also, but not much to report. Just happy to be out, like me. Miller time came early.
Good day overall as I switched over to Crappies. Not a big boy fish- I know, so- who cares. Saved a few nice ones .
My Old Johnson still in good form, and the carp are still fat and happy on the Old Chain.
Another great start to another season. And I only saw 1 idiot on a wave runner in his swimsuit. Gotta Love It.
Good Luck this season guys. Enjoy. It's underway.

This begs the question; what's the best rod/reel combo to throw dough balls?
