Posts: 155 Location: Cedarburg, WI. | This thread could almost be called name your favorite River Monsters episode! It was named before but my pick would have to be Arapaima or Golden Dorado. Nobody's signing up to try and horse a giant stingray off the bottom for recreation??? Hahaha!

Haha....Well, you have a lot of great fisheries nearby that would still allow you to sleep at home.

Posts: 8703 | Never been a fly guy, but a Salmon trip to Alaska sounds like a ton of fun Peacock Bass NO desire whatsoever to fish for anything that requires me strapped into a chair and fighting the same fish for hours I'd do another 3 day saltwater trip. Best fish I've ever eaten was grouper, and it's like a supersized SM bass as far as the fight. Halibut? Depends on how close they are to eating flounder. I've done a fair amount of saltwater fishing, and that's something I'd recommend to anyone. You just never know what's going to be running through your area. Do not recommend Mackerel for table fare. When the schools run through, it's a riot. Fun as heck to catch one right after the other. But unless you're going to smoke them? Blech. I fish muskies for sport, and there are a handful of other fish I'd chase just for entertainment value. But the older I get, the more I want to fish for something that tastes good. A lady friend of mine from Seattle does a lot of crabbing expeditions. Mmmm. Crab!

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | ghoti - 2/14/2019 2:43 PM White sturgeon fishing on the Snake river in Idaho. Got a chance to do this last fall, the jet boat ride through Hell's Canyon was worth the price of admission alone. Lost one big one that straightened the hook. I would definitely recommend Mountain River Outfitters. Shot some chukars in between the sturgeon holes too.

Posts: 409 Location: Almond, WI | Pike in the Baltic Sea. I'd do it as a combo and also fish zander, perch or browns. But the 30-40lb pike would be the focus. I've priced it out and it's not too bad actually, about comparable to a Canadian fly-in.

Posts: 32 Location: West Bend WI | Fishing in the Caribbean again. My daughter, son & I went in summer of 2017 to grand bahama island. This was an early August trip/vacation to send my daughter off to college. Booked a $75 a head trip where we fished shallower water off shore w/cutbait & squid. Caught a bunch of smaller fish, just like panfishing, only some of them were toothy. Was funny when my daughter reeled one in, Captain Jack says "Lauren caught a Slippery Dik". What a blast!
