Posts: 1169 Location: New Hope MN | I’ve been musky fishing for close to 30 years now, and have always done a musky trip every year. However, I have always wanted to try something wildly different. Tarpon, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, or Marlin. But what else is out there? How about Arowana? Or how about Amur Pike, Peacock bass, or…? If money was no option, and you could spend a week anywhere in the world, what species would you target and where would you go?

Posts: 521 | I always wanted to catch peacock bass in the jungle... ripping big topwaters and getting crushed looks like a blast! Tarpon would be a close second.

Posts: 256 Location: Madison, WI | 1. Big Northern Pike - at Wollaston Lake Lodge. 2. Big Walleye - at Hawk Lake Lodge or Budd's Gunisao Lodge. 3. Big Lake Trout - at Athabasca or some other premier destination in Manitoba or Saskatchewan.

After catching some smallish Halibut last year in Alaska (40 lbs), would love to go back and fish for some of the giants that are out there. One of my sister's neighbor's in SE Alaska fishes almost exclusively for big Halibut, when not salmon fishing. He said the bait often includes a whole herring and a salmon head. His biggest was 280 pounds. They fight like mad but they also taste great and are easy to fillet.

Posts: 612 | Lake Kesagami about 100 air miles north of Cochrane Ontario. Best lake in Ontario for giant pike and tons of nice walleye. Also been there 3 times your up near the tree-line so you get the opportunity to see a totally different type of wilderness. Caraboe, few moose. some very big bears, etc. Stuff you just don't see on your average Canadian trip. Warning even in June it can snow or aproach 100 F, crazy climate since your south of Hudson's bay. The nice thing the trip can still be done for ~ 2 K/ wk. Edited by NPike 2/14/2019 1:25 PM

Posts: 349 | A big part of a dream trip for me is doing it unguided. I'd want to do any of these trips in my own boat or a buddy's. Also these are my dream trips, even including muskies. Northern Canada jigging big lakers and casting big pike. Isle Royale lakers. Nipigon pike, lakers, and brookes.

Posts: 101 Location: Niagara on the Lake, ON | JakeStCroixSkis - 2/14/2019 3:34 PM Northern Canada giant lake trout Gord Pyzer told an awesome story about absolutely hammering monster lake trout on Lake Athabasca on our podcast. Made me want to get up there so badly lol. For me, 1) Arapaima 2) Golden Dorado Tarpon, Goliath Tigers also get honorable mention. Whoever said Taimen was a great one too. Too many fish not enough time!!!
