Location: The desert | Buddy of mine upgraded a unit to an HDS carbon, and his other unit is HDS gen 1. They can connect via Ethernet, but will mapping and waypoints be shared between the two? I know it’s possible with gen 2 but not sure on the gen 1. Anyone know? |

| The two connected will share Way-points and Transducers via Ethernet cable and NEMA network cabling, but maps will not share between the two devices no matter what. There is too much difference between the operating systems on each unit. If you have a Side Imaging transducer installed the Carbon will share the image with the Gen 1. They just can't share maps, picture quality difference between the Gen 1 and the Carbon will be noticeable. |

| Make sure he does not update the Carbon to the 18.3 update as the G1 and Carbon will not play nice together. |
