Looking for suggestions on a good jerk bait rod for 4-7oz lures. I have the jerk by st. Croix, but usually don't throw anything bigger than 4 oz with it. Looking for good back bone and stiffer tip. Really liked the G Loomis MUR 966 (8' XH 4-10 oz) but have been told that it is discontinued. Any help is appreciated

I also have the Jerk by st Croix, but almost only use my Sling blade now, for the 4-6oz jerk, if its bigger jerks, i like the Big Dawg.

I throw a lot of big glide baits and jerk baits.
Jeff Hanson turned me onto the Musky Innovations Bulldog Rod. 7.5 footer. XH.
I pair that rod with a Shimano 400D and it is my "go to" rod for all things glide and jerk bait. Love that setup. Hit Jeff up on here and see if he one of those rods for yah.

I threw GLoomis for a long time. Great rods. Good feel but always a little light on power. I stopped using them because I broke 3 (or 4, it was years ago) just bombing weagles.

At the price point you would be looking at a GLoomis, I'd go with a custom rod.

I have the G Loomis MUR966 that I use for Jerkbaits and I love it. Not sure who told you it was discontinued as it is still shown on their website and you can still buy it in the stores.

Who sells Musky innovations rods, I don’t recall ever seeing them.

I love my st Croix rods, but I am a little reluctant to go to the 8'6" model. It would be fine out of the 620 but might be a little long for the jon boat. If you guys know of any dealers selling that g loomis rod, please steer me in the right direction. I picked up the Musky Innovations rods at the show, and I just didn't get the twinkle in the eye. Maybe they were the cheaper models.

I sell them. Ive been a authorized dealer for them for 10 years. Lots of my customers use them in my boat and like them so they stop by my house and buy one after guide trip or get them from me at Fishing shows.
Musky Innovations sold them on their website also but recently stopped do to shipping increases.
I only use/sell The Pro Series
You can buy them direct also:https://trophytechnology.com/store/professional-series/

Try a 7'6" XXH Tackle Industries rod or the 7ft XXH.

I don't believe the ones I picked up were the pro series. They were selling them for $85 and the felt like they were a little thin.

Mace- You probably bought a Evolution or Select series. It will say on it what it is Both are cheaper rods and sell on clearance for price you mentioned. New Pro Series rods run $150- $210 depending on model.

Sounds great. I believe I am going to give one of the pro series a try. Thanks for all of the suggestions. This site saves a lot of shopping and trial and error!

I have a custom Predator ... but putting aside the brand I really like specs it was built on for use as my jerk bait rod. It is rated as a Heavy blank with 2" taken off the the tip with a total length of 7'8". It seems to have the right balance of length and power for all my jerk baits.

What's the Predator series like? Fleet farm sells them and they are lower on the cost scale too. Did they sell the rods too Trophy Technology?

Trophy Technology always made the rods for Musky Innovations and still do.
I have not used the Predator series. They have cheaper components on them and are good for a cheaper rod. I always use the Pro Series.

St. Croix "Mojo Musky" rods the best I've ever used for jerk, glide and crank baits. Personally I like the 8' rod easier to pin the fish when alone. Also as far as St Croix is concerned there're not that expensive, don't think I paid over $140 /rod.
