Location: Eastern Ontario | Dave at DK Baits is pretty close to you I like the baits that are so chewed they are past refinishing . Paint catches fishermen.....location timing and action catches fish

Location: Eastern Ontario | I'm thinking refinishing is harder than painting a new lure and would be pretty hard to make any money at.

I've refinished many lures. Mostly ones that are special And productive. It's also a confidence booster when finished.Really a pain to refinish. Most guys charge around 10-12$ to refinish and paint. Way worth it to have them do it for that money. I've appreciated all that have done baits for me. Kudos to those who refinish!!!JDEdited by jdsplasher 2/4/2019 6:56 AM

Posts: 139 | It all depends on the present condition of the bait, and how much surface needs removed. Some baits may only require roughing up the surface and painting. My experience in refinishing baits involves stripping the old epoxy and paint, patching any chunks or hook rash, then sealing, painting and adding several coats of epoxy top coat. By the time I'm done I could have made a whole new bait from scratch. Sanding multiple layers of old epoxy takes way too long to make it affordable enough for me to do.
