I've been finding fish in December and January, something I'm not accustomed to around here. I popped this 45 1/4 incher today on a jerk bait (anyone else remember Muskie Treats?), after getting a 34 1/2 from the same cove on New years day. Amazing. Plus, another one from the same lake just before Christmas. Been a fun winter so far. m

Mikie,
Congratulations on the fish. A lot of us have to live vicariously through you for a number of months until the season opens. Yes, I know the Muskie Treat and really value them.
Tom

correct, sir. How did you do?
Well, mid-summer around here has me wishing for northern waters so I guess it all works out. I've got over a dozen Treats and that's pretty much all I'll throw any more. m

Well, I'd be glad to offer you boat space; but, I messed up my motor today. A few weeks ago I had a receptical outlet go bad on my trolling motor. Replacing it wasn't easy, and today when I went out I lost the ground connection again. I was messing with it when I failed to notice I was drifting into shallow waters and the boat stopped with a crunching noise I hadn't heard before. It was the U bracket that mounts the motor to the transom breaking.
So, now i have no electric motor and a badly disabled outboard. I had to abandon my trip after only a dozen casts to get back to the ramp. Fortunately, the part is available and the motor is in the shop. May be ready for our next warm up? hope so. m

Fin-ally, today I got the Merc back on the boat, bracket all done and a thorough check up; we also found the problem with the troller was the corroded ground wire going to the socket and put a different ground on it; works now! Now, I get to re-install the gator mount bracket, fasten down the new bow deck plate, and take a break for a while. Oh, and while I had it all apart I installed a new CD player with a bunch of modern feature I may never use (what's a 'blue tooth' anyway?), but now have reliable boogie tuneage.

Dan, I don't have the Gambler any more, I fish a 16 ft BassTracker with a 9.9. A bit slower but i still get there. m

Glad to see your rig is getting fixed. I have a 621 that needs to get some fuel ran through it.....
