So I don’t care how much it costs, best 9 foot rod. My new boat has room for a 9 foot rod. I usually throw double ten, magnum bulldog, or occasionally pounder.

Big Nasty full grip if you're looking for a do it all. Legend Elite is pretty awesome, but after two seasons I wouldn't say there's a real benefit over the Big Nasty

St Croix LEM90HF for split grip or the Big Nasty in full grip. Or have a Thornes make a predator to your liking.

Similar Question.. what's the best blank power and action for pounders, dussas, and 2 pounders?

I've got several people saying 9' XXH Moderate action and one Saying 9' XH Fast Action? What do you guys think?

I think it going to vary by manufacturer as each seems to have a different interpretation of those. For me, the gold standard for Pounders is a Thorne Brother XH Predator. It can Handle 2 Pounders too but it really shines with bigger Medussa's and pounders. Mine is 9'6 with an 18-inch split grip.

I would say that a great 2 pounder rod would make for a mediocre pounder rod and vise versa, too much of a weight difference between the lures.

You thinking on focusing more on pounders/dussas or on 2 pounders?

I have been throwing pounders with the same rod for about five or six years. Musky innovations rod super extra heavy. I think it will throw up to 40 ounces, it is 8'6". It has been outstanding. It has a very fat handle and the action is different from St. Croix, I would say slower?

Go Predator XH I have one and it handles pounders and Mags like nothing. You could throw 2lber with it if you wanted too as well. Great Big Rubber Rod Mine IS 9'6" XH with 18 inch full grip handle best big Rubber rod available IMO

Bottom line: If money is not an issue or you want the best available get a custom. "What do you get in a custom that you don't get in a factory rod ???"

Anything you want.
