Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | we had 38 in Presque Isle. Sunday i'm sure you heard the bottom fell out, front rolled in and gave us some snow. the forecast beginning Wednesday calls for much lower temps. overnight and below freezing for daytime highs throughout the extended forecast so the day count of soft water may be short-lived.

I have been watching that and the chain I am on is shallow and one of the first to skim over. Really happens quick when highs stay below freezing.

Posts: 20173 Location: oswego, il | That would have been fun Sled, we did eat at sisters one night, i was in a group of 10 and the other nights we made feasts. Stayed at Vestee Jackson's brother Ken's resort. Edited by ToddM 11/6/2018 8:31 AM

Posts: 1258 Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Going to give it a last go Thursday through Sunday. The forecast doesn't sound conducive for casting, so might just be soaking bait, vertical jigging, or trolling. Can't catch them sitting on the couch!

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | snow is gone, it's above freezing and raining now so, the tale to tell will be what happens when the cold weather arrives later tonight and tomorrow and how long before things start to tighten up as a result. i'm an avid ice fisherman and every time we dream of early ice, we get disappointed. Posts: 134 | Bump.... Heading up Thursday for gun season. Typically haul the boat for some late trolling. Wondering if i'll have any open water. We stay around lake tomahawk area, and its usually the big lakes that are left open. thanks

Posts: 400 Location: North/Central WI | Big, deep lakes (1000+ acres, 60'+ deep) should be open for this coming weekend...landing areas could have some ice depending on where they are located. Water temp is about 40 right now on the big lakes. The slight warm-up the middle of this week should help. I think medium-sized, deep lakes are going to go in the next day or so. I had 35-36 deg on one when I pulled last night. There was ice forming in sheltered areas. Edited by NateOz 11/12/2018 12:06 PM

Posts: 400 Location: North/Central WI | Thanks...I'm still debating whether to head north or south. I heard there was skim ice covering most of the lakes in Vilas county this morning. I think Trout and Tom should be fishable this weekend...not sure about much else.

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | just home from town (Minocqu) ... lake is tight with only remaining part the basin in front of the whale. will be full-tight by the weekend and possibly tomorrow. the window is closing quickly. if you head north, throw in the auger and a few tip ups ...
