| I'm from Cincinnati and have caught several musky in my lifetime (im 35)I try to fish Clair at least once a year in the fall and the 40 pounder is my white whale. Question legit chance at a 40 pounder in Ohio? Home lake is ceasar Creek? Stick with Clair or worth the extra 6 hour driver the the Bay of GB, or somewhere is within a reasonable drive. Fished mill lacs and a little farther than I wanted to go. Thanks for the feedback. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | You may find a few - few - thirty pounders in Ohia lakes, look elsewhere if you're stuck on forty. Now, if you're a Muskies Inc member, you may be able to query the Lunge Log on particular waters to see if your pound-class is being reported. You can also check Ohio DNR's Muskie Anglers Log for Ohio reports.
Or, you can just go fish Kentucky! m

Location: Duluth | Just moved from Cincinnati. Kentucky is likely your best shot at 40. St. Clair, Niagara and St. Lawrence are all reasonable drives that I used to do and have way bigger fish potential than anything inland.
Ceasars Creek is show potential to kick out some bigger fish. |

| One a side note , how inflated in the state record Ohio musky? OMG. A50 pounder just over 50 inches. How does this even hold up.And the pics of that fish 35 at best. |

I'd put in fish >50 inches. Reporting by weight is pretty low, and understandably so.

| 50+ " 40 lbs.... Big water is best shot.... Great Lakes-- St Clair.-- Many, Many of the big Musky lakes in MN and Canada..... Wisconsin--- Not so much for a 40LB fish.. |

| Agreed no sense knocking a guy for desiring a big one. A fish's weight can be approximated by length - girth. Also one can weight it while it's in the net. Although I must admit I've never seen a 40 lber. |

| Kinda right.. wall hanger but a fittantte replica. Wife's first was a 49 1/2 incher. Definitely not killing one for many reasons. |

Location: Eastern Ontario | The St Lawrence , Georgian Bay, and I would assume possibly Green Bay being big Great Lakes water. you may get it in 20 minutes or it may take 100 hours or MORE. I know a guy who waited 4 years fishing out of the port side of a boat while his partner was regularly taking big fish out of the starboard side with the same lures. If you fish with a guide you have all the rods and get to wind the string. |

Caught my first muskie in Georgian bay before I actually started muskie fishing. Now it's too far from my bed. I have a good friend that has guided the Bay for over 25 years and he comes to the Larry couple of times a year. |

| 50 incher at 55 pounds? Full of eggs no way she goes that heavy. If you see a pic of a 50 pounder out of gergian or mill lacs they could eat that fish. Sarcasticly speaking.
