100% agree with that.. I got a 50" in Madison a few yrs ago.. some of my buds pointed out that is my biggest fish even though I have fish to 54.5"... relative to where it was caught, yes it was my biggest.. in the last 10 yrs on avg we put a 50"er in the boat, every 25 hrs the boat is on the water in MN.. in WI.. I have 1 in the last 20 yrs of fishing here. an Inland Wisco 50 is rare and is like catching a 54/55 in MN easily... lots of very good fishermen in WI don't have an inland Wisco 50".the Leechers put in here will help but still won't make it easy to cach a 50" here.

I think catching a 50 is cool anywhere, but then again catching a Muskie is cool anywhere. Stocked, natural, who cares. They're an awesome fish regardless. Catching a tiger in the NM desert... Sounds awesome. A 38" from a TN creek... Yup, sounds like fun. Trolling for 4 50s in one day on St Clair... Well I'd rather drink my beer from the comfort of my couch but I won't judge you for it.

You know your area very well if you are catching +50's often that is for sure! I am from South Florida and I see any muskie I catch a accomplishment for me. Caught my 4th muskie to date a couple days ago. I plan on traveling for more muskie in future vacations and hopefully catch some bigger ones.

Keep trying and you will catch a +50 inch muskie on Lake Saint Clair. Have read your reports of your big muskies, you are very knowledgeable in muskie fishing so it is only a matter of time you catch another one. When you get a chance visit South Florida and try to catch your first +50 inch barracuda, they are a blast to catch and much stronger pound for pound than a equal size muskie. Have caught several +50 inch barracuda, both on rod/reel and free dive spearfishing, which is a much more difficult sport than rod/reel fishing.

yah not sure why a "natural" 50 is any different than a stocked 50? can't say 50s on LOTW are any harder (or easier) to catch than stocked lakes... both have the same behavior... 50s are definitely a lot more common these days than 15 - 20 yrs ago... I remember when the thought of catching just one 50" seemed out of reach... now we can catch multiple 50s in a day or trip. legit 55s. at least in MN/WI/Ontario they are pretty darn rare... out east maybe not as much... have been lucky to have one over 55" in the boat.

I seen have many videos of 50 inch or better muskies online and have read that muskie fishing is at its best right now. It also helps that you can find so much information on muskie locations in forums, online articles,Youtube videos, and other sources. Saw a video of a man who caught a 56'' muskie from land in Wisconsin and another video of a +50-55'' muskie caught from land on very thin line while fishing for other species of fish. I will not be surprised one bit if someone catches another +55 incher this Fall or following Spring.
