It's been a week & I'm still on cloud 9. Wife & I fished the St Lawrence river with Paul Corbett of Irish Hammer Sportfishing out of Clayton, NY last Tuesday. We fished a few hours in the AM then took a 2 1/2 hr. break for lunch. Back on the water before 3PM, we marked several big fish. Some muskies, some walleyes. At 7:30PM the board rod "went off". After a few minutes of massive head shakes and 2 drag peeling runs, Paul slid the net under a 54.25" muskie. Not just my PB, my 1st 50", and quite possibly the biggest muskie of my life. I'll try to attach pics. If it doesn't work plz see Irish Hammer Sportfishing on Facebook.

Congrats on entering the 50" club with such a nice fish, I've never caught one that big but I have caught a few 50" and bigger fish.

Honestly, keeping that fish never entered my mind. Watching that big tail disappear into the dark water means somebody else might get the same rush that I got from catching her. The muskie was caught on a Hammer Lure by Paul Fec.

was complaining about the price of them, because they are not wood. it look like you got a solid argument about their value lol. gj that part of st-lawrence is probably the hardest place to fish

The replica is on hold for awhile. My dental insurance doesn't cover the new crown so there went the $. Maybe I'll start a go fund me page.

If you fish the river it's pretty much a guarantee you will catch a 55"er?

I'd love to fish the Larry frequently, but it's over 1100 miles from home. This trip was, in all likelihood. a once in a lifetime event. If I do ever go back, I'd more than likely fish with Paul again. LOTW is a 7hr drive so we make that week long trip every year.
