Location: oswego, il | Seems to be a season by season thing. Some years you cannot lose a fish and some years their attempts at eating make you wonder how they can survive as a species. I have put a net under 8 of the last 30 fish that have ate. Every pike is #*#*ting the same lure. Lure type doesn't matter either. It has to be a fish mood condition, next year i might not even lose one. |

| Same story here. We had 5 fish all come off after crappy hits during a tournament a few weeks ago. Even had a fish around 48"-50" miss the bait during the 8 and launch itself out of the water. |

| Me too this year, lost 3 pushing 50 I. One day last week..... Seriously I have lost like 65% of the fish thta have ate this year |

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Lost 3 fish this season, all big. Sunday had hooks in a giant that ate a FB. By myself. Had her to the boat, she ran away on a power run, and as she did I thought to myself, I’m not losing this one, so I’ll give her an extra hook set while she was powering away. So I did. Turns out I shouldn’t have. Who knows. Losing fish is part of the game. |

Location: oswego, il | What I notice is the way they are hitting compared to other seasons. They are nipping and swiping but not overly agressive. The fish I am catching have been poorly hooked, one hook point and in the beak, cheek and never in a good spot. You can catch a pike on the same bait and they inahle it. I have seen this before, it seams to happen within a season and change the next year. |

But on our LOTW trip this year we lost a lot of fish. Lots of nips.and swipes. Only 1 I can really think of that was hooked deep and solidly.
Ive been struggling a lot this year as well.
Namekagon is always tuff, but it has been overly tuff for me this year. |

| With larger pike or musky it can be hard to get a good hook set at times. There jaw bones can be difficult to fully penetrate. Also depends on the angle at which the fish hits the bait. Point in case: boat side hits don't tend to produce as well for me. This often occurs as the bait swiftly changing direction during the last portion of the retrieve. Seems if a big bass or even walleye hits the boating % is higher.
Then at times they'll just give the bait a quick nip based on curiosity rather than hunger (most of the time when this happens I don't stand a chance).
Disappointing when a fish approaches the boat after being on for a good many minutes that looks like a swimming log and you loose it w/o actually seeing it's size. The lakes are still > 80 degrees this year very slow around here.

| Season changes... climate change... or is it global warming? I can't keep track anymore. Darn Russian meddling. I like that one better.... Sharp hooks. Life is chance and circumstance. Same with muskie fishing. |

| Lost 40% of those that were hooked this year. I can remember staring really hard at a Poseidon hook 1 morning for like 5 minutes after losing a 50. Thought I had her cold. That hook got swapped even though it was perfectly fine and sharp! |

Location: St. Lawrence River | We have noticed a trend of losing more fish then usual up here this year.. What a weird coincidence, eh? Lost several 50+ and smaller ones, too. Same for those I fish with, and among.. |
