I've been chasing after a musky for a week or so now. I was fishing a local dam to kill time when I spotted him feeding on some carp. After I saw him I've been spending my time trying to catch him. I see him a few times every time I'm out and I throw everything I have trying to catch him, any recommendations? I've tried live bait too, at this point I might try live carp to imitate what had happened when I watched him feeding. Any tips to land this giant?

You are likely there when it is not in a feeding mode. Change up your timing and see if that helps.

Atomic carp, Hang 10 manta. It’ll eat that.

Hmmmm...that may not be just one fish, since its uncommon for an average joe in a boat to see a particular fish feed on a regular basis. Seems to me that the combination of the suggestions above (except Hooker) is a good approach. Catch a couple foot long carp the day before (ok, now Hooker). Next day hang a spunky carp on a quick strike rig on a rod in a holder right straight down next to the boat. Use a reel with a "bait clicker", like in Jaws. Fan cast another rod with a sorta small bait, like a Buchertail 500, Rizzotail or small Mepps Muskie Killer, always starting your 8 at or above the carp. Idea is to force a follow into commitment on the live bait.

Look at your fishing regs regarding using carp for bait.
