Posts: 106 | Just wondering how everyone is taking a photo of a caught fish when fishing alone. I have been thinking about buying a Gro Pro. I think the voice commands would be nice when handling a fish. Also some of the mounting tools they have would be nice. Just wondering if this is the best way to go or is there better opions out there(camera's,tripods ,etc)? Any info would be great.thanks

Posts: 4269 Location: Ashland WI | I have a timer app on my phone that takes 10 pics in 30 seconds. It has a 10 second delay before it starts. I hit the button and then take the fish out. I try to move a little bit between shots. With ten chances , I usually get at least one or two that are decent.

Posts: 50 Location: Southern Indiana | Made a little wooden stand to prop my phone up. Put it on the pedestal seat, set to video selfie mode, hit record, pull the fish out of the net and smile for the camera. Then just take screenshots from the video. Usually come out better than the pictures some of my camera-challenged friends take cause I can see the screen as I’m taking it.

Posts: 17 Location: Florida | I use a GoPro Hero 5 Black with a Gopro Jaws flex clamp. The 5 and above have voice control. I say "Gopro take a Photo", "Gopro start recording" (for video) and "Gopro turn off" when I'm done. While many phones have voice control and are reasonable options (I have the Note 8) , I can have the Gopro always mounted and ready to go while not worrying about weather resistance or it flying overboard. This also leaves my phone available for phone things. You can get a Hero 5 for a very reasonable price on sale these days.

Posts: 349 | I use a cheap tripod for my phone and the app Open Camera set to take pictures every 2 seconds. My pictures automatically upload to google photos and it always creates a cool little timelapse of the photo/bump/release. Interesting that you can see exactly how long the fish was out of the water. https://photos.app.goo.gl/otN1Q8LiM5M9hJb87 https://photos.app.goo.gl/yGbCappS4UFLy3Po6

Posts: 10 | I have an otter box for my phone. I took the clip section and cut a corner out of it where my camera lens is. That way I can put my phone in the clip with the screen facing out and then I clip it on my windshield.
