I like a 9” 174# steel leader. One end I attach a solid ring which I tie to, the other can be a solid ring or a snap of your choice. I attach split rings to most my jerkbaits so the ring works. For wtd baits under 6” or any small jerkbaits Stealth tackle Spring leader is a good choice.
