| Wondering what your guys big fish baits are, and if you see much size difference in fish between different baits and sizes? If you were only targeting fish say 48" and bigger would you throw different baits? |

Location: Eastern Ontario | Hose Fatty but I tow not throw.My second choice is another Fatty ( 2 lines where i fish ) but I also use a Flat Shad if I want to be adventuress |

| all good lures are big fish baits. i almost exclusively fish big fish water but if i move to a place where a 40 incher is a nice fish i keep using the same lures |

| My average size fish on glidebaits is on the small side compared to rubber, bucktails and topwater.. so for me I’ll never throw gliders to target 48”+ fish..but there is a time an place for most baits with big fish, lots of big fish get caught on dbl 10’s but then again they get thrown a ton....And for sure when you have “good conditions” and the fish are active, fish are relatively shallow.. tails are tough to beat!! I find myself throwing deep diving cranks or jigging bondy’s more and more to target deeper fish...been working for me |

| I've found topwaters to be one of the better big fish baits. I think the bigger muskies see topwaters as an easy meal, plus there are still a lot of anglers with little to no confidence in these baits so fish don't see as many compared to blades, big rubber, etc. If anglers threw them enough to develop confidence in them, they might see their average size fish increase significantly. |

Location: MN | I've approached this question by looking at lunge log stats - avg size, % fish 48+," etc. for a number of baits. These stats are biased by location of course, but you get some idea. My take-away list of big fish baits was:
- 10s
- soft plastics: dawgs, dussas, shadzillas, etc
- big trolling cranks: mattlocks, headlocks, etc |

| I'd say 10's. But then I've downsized to 8's or 9's to give myself a break and caught as many if not more fish on smaller blades, with no discernible difference in size. I think the main advantage to larger baits is keeping the 18" pike off of them so you can put in more casts and not waste time unhooking pike #12 for the day. Have to admit though, these last few years we've been filling the live well with slot pike on smaller baits and enjoying every bite of them... |
