Hi Guys,

I have a 2010 Ranger 620 with an ETEC 250 HO on it.

I don't have the factory lower unit anymore. The guy I got the boat from loved to hit rocks, so it's got an Evinrude re manufactured lower unit on it.

Apparently it's a lower geared unit than normal. G/C M2 STD is the model, whatever that means ...

Anyways, Frankie's told me the old prop wouldn't be ideal on this new re-habbed lower unit. They recommended 2 other props, but only had 1 in stock so that's what I got.

It's a Raker II 14.5 x 22. The boat flies. I can go 60 MPH. But the hole shot sucks.

I would rather lose some top end and have a better hold shot. I seem to be doing more water sports with the kids than fishing right now so I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a better prop for hole shot?

I do have an email in Debbie at Frankie's, but I have no heard back.

Thanks - Midge!

Hiya,

I would say if you are looking to do water sports with the kids, I'd maybe suggest a 4 blade for your set-up. If you could get a hold of a Revolution 4 propeller in 19 pitch, you might be getting more of what you want. The prop will still have a bunch of bow lift for you, and being lower pitch and 4 blade, you will be able to keep on plane at lower speeds for the water sports, and still have the handling you would want for heavier conditions.

If you are close to oakdale, I have a Raker in a 20 pitch you could take out and try... It'd be a little slower overall, and you might have to watch your RPM's a bit at the top, by you should gain holeshot...

I have a 09 620 with a 250 HO. I’m running a 4 blade 19 pitch cyclone prop, and my boat jumps out of the hole! It’s literally on plane in seconds. Love that prop. My top end is about 54 maybe 55 but is plenty for me. I also have a 3 blade 21 pitch but have never tried it due to how well the 4 blade cyclone handles this rig.

When I was looking to put a stainless prop on my previous Etec rig, the tech at the local Evinrude dealer recommended the Rebel. He felt it would be best for hole shot and mid range cruising. He warned me that I'd lose a little on the top end, but would be able to stay up on plane at lower speeds which helps with fuel efficiencies if you don't feel the need to keep it pinned all the time. I ended up getting rid of that rig before I made the upgrade and it turned out the next rig I bought, came with the Rebel prop already installed. His recommendation was spot on. I have a Recon 985 w/ 200 Etec and I jump out of the water, top out at 53 (with or without a load of musky gear), and stay up on plane at low speeds. Couldn't be happier!

I'm also including a link/address for an Evinrude Prop Guide that, among other things, talks about the benefits of 3 vs. 4 blade props.

Hi. Not sure if this would work but I have a 4 blade 25 x 13.75 that I tried but my 250HO on Z520 blows it out. I had a 3 blade 25 x 14.5 that was terrible hole shot and am currently running a 3 blade by 24 x 14.5 that is working well right now. Trying to find a 4 blade 24 x 14.5

8 of 10 - $250 w/o shipping
