Posts: 901 | Hey Guys, I was out in my boat over the 4th of July and the sonar on my Helix 7 disappeared. I typically toggle thru the different views to get the chart/sonar combo I want. When I was toggling thru, there was nothing related to sonar. I couldn't even do sonar only. I did see something in the settings where you can hide certain views and I made sure sonar was not hidden. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks - Midge

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | mine are not Helix, but the older models and i find sometimes that when i power up the sonar doesn't engage right away. so, i will sometimes have to power down and re-boot again to get sonar to come on.

Posts: 901 | Hmm, good question. I would've never intentionally turned the transducer off. I swear it worked fine when I put it in winter storage and now it's off. I will see if I can find transducer on/off.

Posts: 901 | I just saw a video on You Tube to turn sonar on/off. My sonar is definitely on. Weird

Posts: 4269 Location: Ashland WI | Will Schultz - 7/13/2018 10:48 AM When the Helix is turned on is the sonar pinging? This. Turn it on when its out of water and listen by the transducer. You should hear it clicking if its on.

Posts: 546 Location: MN | Two items: Make sure sonar is on. Tap your power button and make sure "SONAR" is set to "ON" The other: make sure your transducer is plugged in and has good connections. If there is no transducer recognized, it will not provide sonar views.

When I'm making a long run or in rough seas I'll normally switch the second helm unit over to GPS/chart so I have one unit zoomed out and one unit zoomed in... don't have to mouse with anything while bouncing along (actually works great). Otherwise (other than 2 locations?), don't understand why you would need 2 full time units strictly for GPS?
