| I am just wondering how many of us are still using round reels like a Luna, Calcutta, Ambassadeur, etc. I like my Calcutta 400d and my old, gold Calcutta once in awhile.

Location: Eastern Ontario | Back in the dark ages i started with Abu6500's and 7000's bought a few Calcutta's still using the same reels some well over 30 years old but everyone knows I'm a dinosaur. |

| I am a huge fan of round reels. So much so I have a hard time using the low profile style. Calcutta Conquest is my #2 favorite with the Daiwa Shrapnel being my favorite.
No matter how hard I try I can't get use to the Tranx or Revo's I have.

Location: Wisconsin | Round for me as well. I, like Horsehunter and many others, started with an old abu. I guess its partly what you get used to using. I really don't like the low profile reels. Bought a few and then sold them as they just don't feel right in my hand. All Calcutta's for me. |

| I started with Ambassadors for bass fishing back in the 70's and just stayed with them. The now closed Easterlings Rod & Reel had rebuilding parts and 'buzz kits' to change gear ratios. Right now I have a couple custom 6000's, a 7000 for trolling with metered line, a 5000C with thumbar for lighter baits and a Calcutta 400. The Calcutta is the smoothest but satisfied all. |

Location: Northern Illinois | I have used the low profile reels since they came out and have continued to move on to the next generations of them. But I still have a few old Morrums with upgraded drags and they still work great. |

| Over many years of playing this game and trying numerous reels the Shimano Calcutta series has been without question the most dependable reels. I still have my original Calcutta 400 CT that is running as strong as the day I bought it sometime in the early 90's.

| Personally, I still regularly use my Calcutta 401 D.
I find that the differences between round/low profile reels to be negligible when fishing with reels the size of musky reels. The big line capacity of a size 400 reel will take a lot of space in your hands, no way getting around that.

| I use both. I like to change it up, which helps my hand fatigue. Different palming each but if I could only have one type I would use my Calcutta te. |

| Still have a Ambassadeur 5500c from 1979 and a couple Mourrums along with a pair of mid 90's 7000's and a Calcutta 400B with power handle. The old 5500C is on a jig rod, 7000's I use if I go sucker fishing , the Morrum's use around here for Pike fishing Mepp's #5 and the 400B still gets a work out. |

| I use an Abu 6500C4 as a jerkbait reel. Upgraded the bearings and drag on it a few years ago. |

| Does a Daiwa Saltist count? I have one I use for trolling/sucker fishing. I also have a 200 size Calcutta and 400 Calcutta b that sometimes use for crawling topwater baits. |

| I have transitioned to Tranx 400 on most of my poles but still use a Calcutta 400d on a 9ft pole as an all purpose setup. It has been incredible durable, absolutely no problems and still casts as smooth as when I bought it 6 years ago. By the way my Calcutta 400b is also still going strong 10 years later.

Location: NorthCentral WI | My 401D's are always the first combos I reach for. I still use an older Inshore Ambassadeur regularly too. In recent years I added a Toro Beast, Toro S, and an Okuma Komodo and I avoid using them because I can not get used to the feel of the low profile frames. I have actually been considering trading all of them for round reels. |

| I have a few low profile reels but the workhorses that are on my two favorite rods are a Calcutta LJV 400 and a Calcutta Conquest 400. With the Conquest I can throw a jerkbait a country mile with nary a backlash. |

Location: On my favorite lake! | Nothing wrong with round reels. I use some of both round and low profile.
Tranx , Toros and 6500’s. With some of the rods with that down handle on it. Less people are palming the reel. |
