| I really like the chaos shock and awe. It's got the power to bring big bucktails thru the 8 w speed but a soft enough action to fling em out there on the cast. For the money, it's tough to beat. |

| Chaos Shock and Awe 9.5'. Great for 9's, 10's and bigger! Stiff enough for all these baits on the 8. But it won't really throw anything smaller than 9's in my opinion. |

| I’m actually building a Legend Elite 9’ and extending it out to 10’. I’ve built quite a few 10’6” tackle industries rods, but am looking at different options. The St. Croix line is more expensive, but also more closely resembles what I’m looking for in a blank. |

Location: Hayward, WI | What is your budget? That will dictate some of the answers here. The Big Nasty is a nice option. Soft enough to cast fairly well but stout enough to hold up in a figure 8. If you are good at casting stiff rods the Thorne HX is very nice in the 8 with big baits too. For me that rod is a little stiff for casting bucktails regularly but some people like it for that.
Those are some higher end options. For a lower price the XXH Tackle Industries rods might serve you well. I'd probably go with the 9'6" if going with a TI rod.
Another mid price option would be a rod from Keith at Pro Edge. Heard lots of good things about his new rods. I'm planning to have a rod built on one of his blanks this year also.

| Thanks guys. I’ve been using a 10’ XH TI rod but it’s just too soft boatside. Does anyone have thoughts on a Predator XXH? I’m sure it’d be great boatside, just wondering how well it’d cast Supermodels. If anyone has experience with that I’d appreciate your feedback. |

| If you really want something that heavy, look at the new St. Croix Premier big rubber rod. "Soft" tip and a pretty good backbone. I'd take the Nasty for that. |

I have an XXH HEavy Predator. When the conditions are right it's my go-to Super Model rod ( if you have the wind behind you). The XM Predator is a better overall rod for Super Models (IMHO) as it casts them better in all conditions and does a good job in the figure 8. I also own a Big Nasty and like it for a lot of things but think the XH Predator is a better Super Model Rod... |
