Posts: 653 Location: Moses Lake, WA | This lure started out to be a simple silver siding and blue/green/orange lacquer presentation, but I got heavy handed with the lacquer and the visibility of the siding exited stage left. So I added some epoxy and decided that some green and gold glitter highlights would spruce up the scene. After it set up I was still unhappy so I added silver pearl dots and black stripes, followed by epoxy with lavender opalescent glitter to make the black look blue. In the final analysis I would up with my own nightmare rendition of Frankenfish. 12", basswood, one rattle chamber, screwy color pattern. But Making a working bait is another story---- I am sure you have put in countless hours in design and testing also----SO post up those videos so we can see how they perform..

Posts: 54 | Neat color scheme, I like the glitter with it. When you say "rattle chamber" are you using the premade glass or plastic rattles or are you making your own with a 22 shell or similar?

Posts: 653 Location: Moses Lake, WA | To make my rattle chambers I drill a 3/4" hole through the lure, then use a 1" drill to generate a 1/8" lip on both lure sides. I used to buy 1" brass/ss disks but they proved expensive, but then I found that a quarter would fit the 1" lipped hole perfectly. Glue one quarter in, insert 1/2" diameter ss ball bearing, and glue the other quarter in, epoxy over both quarters and you have a rattle chamber that makes a real noise. It's much louder than normal rattles and you can change the frequency by using smaller ball bearings.

Posts: 54 | Very nice, I wondered why there was a quarter shortage... I've done the same type of rattle chambers but used grommet punches and shim stock to make the end pieces or things like the knock out slugs from electrical boxes. It's amazing the different kinds of sounds you can get with different materials and size.
