Posts: 555 Location: Tennessee | Gonna be heading up last week of October. If anyone would care to share some tidbits for the area I’d greatly appreciate it. Also any bait shops/restaurants to drop by while there?

Posts: 330 Location: SE Wisc | Lots of fish in Pewaukee, also fisherman. I haven’t fished it in late fall but I would concentrate my efforts around the deeper western basin. Jigging Bondys could be the ticket, also bulldawgs, and trolling. Smokey’s musky shop is right on the lake. If you want a great steak head down Capital Drive to Brookfield and check out Mr. B’s.

Posts: 200 Location: Milwaukee, WI | I fish Pewaukee almost every week. My 2cents...position your boat in 16' of water and cast in at a 45 degree angle to the shore so you cover from 10-15'. Also don't count out the narrows in that same depth range. Work quickly to find active fish. Good luck and maybe I'll see you out there!!!

Posts: 555 Location: Tennessee | Thanks for the input so far. Also cabbage if you see a blue Lund Rebel with a jet drive that’ll likely be us. How is the Pike there too? Any chance of some big gators? Edited by Wood_Duck 9/20/2018 5:22 AM

Posts: 100 | I've gotten pike up to 36" on Pewaukee while muskie fishing. Only caught a handful out there though.

Posts: 2222 Location: SE, WI. | I'd say, if I was to tell one when Not to fish Pewaukee, it would be the first 2 weeks in May, and the turnover process between about 18th- 30th of October! One of the reasons why I bail out at that time frame. Sorry, it's not all doom and gloom at that time. The fish are all over during turnover, and they can and will be everywhere!!! If your serious about catching fish. Hire a Guide. Caught Muskies probably 100 different techniques on this body of water. Otherwise, go into Smokeys musky shop, south side of the east end, and ask one of the trained Technicians what is working. He will probably escort you over to one of the Sucker bins, where you can purchase suckers for 9-10$ each. I'm sure they will tell you what depths are working at that time. Tons of pike in Pewaukee....toooo Many. Boat about 80+ the last 3 years. Up to about 40". Not sure if the pike bite will explode then late October. Probably a good jig and creature in black or Pearl would work best, in weeds, that time frame. Good Luck, JD Edited by jdsplasher 9/20/2018 1:19 PM

Posts: 100 | Pewaukee bas been a tough bite this year. I live nearby and have 50+ follows with no bites all year. Definitely a bright bait, and small bait lake. Bass lures will catch muskies here. Unusual and unseen baits shine. Still a strong population with many 40+ inch fish seen, along with plenty of 20" fish. Fish to be had everywhere, fishing both the deep west side, and shallow east side. Stop in by Smokies for hot lures and advice. Edited by CRK925 9/20/2018 7:49 PM

Posts: 100 | Also if you're here on a Wednesday, stop in by Billy Ho's for the best wings you'll ever eat. Curly's Lakefront right by Smokies also has really good food. Also Doc's Dry Dock for awesome pizza. Edited by CRK925 9/20/2018 7:49 PM

Posts: 2222 Location: SE, WI. | RELAX ; wood- duck Pewaukee had a about 10" of rain in a 2 week period about a month ago. Bite went south. BUT, the past 3 weeks has been pretty good. My boat has 24 ski's boated...1/3 have been 41-45". I'm hoping the bite to even get better with these cooler temps....we shall see... Just hope for a cool stretch where your turnover happens before you arrive... Like I suggested, go talk to the technicians at smokeys;)....when you arrive!
