Our Ninja has no problem cooking a beef Chuck Eye steak of 1" thick @ 390degrees. Bout 15min rare, 25 for well. We have yet to use it for fish but a buddy of mine darn near lives off Catfish and Large Mouth in the summer, he's obsessed with his and who talked me into getting ours.

I prefer fish deep fried over my air fryer. They don’t seem to get as crunchy in the air fryer.

I tried fries in an air fryer once. Where anything touches it doesn't fry. Not a fan unless things don't touch but they aren't big enough for that.

My daughter in law cooked store bought salmon filets in their air fryer last week and it was very good. Just olive oil, little seasoning, had a hint of crust on the outside, inside was very tender and not dry at all. She teaches cooking in one of her classes at a high school and said there is a big difference between air fryers. My son uses it for wings and they come out very nice, with a lot less grease.

Todd's right, you can't have stuff touching much. It needs to be exposed to the air inside the "fryer". I've had good luck with stuff like chicken legs or thighs. Just use the same dredge I would use to fry chicken. You need to mist it with some of that aerosolized cooking oil for it to brown up and seem fried, but it works pretty good if the items have little contact. I can do 3 chicken legs at a time in the small one that I have. I haven't tried fish, because it would only hold one small piece of fish at a time. They are just a tiny convection oven. I'm tempted to get one that is larger. I saw one that is more of a counter top oven, that you can do more things with. Has double doors on the front, and has a rotisserie for whole chickens, as well.

I was looking at the larger ones as well but the reviews seem all over the place. I would like some feedback on brands.

The one I've been looking at, is the Kalorik 26 quart Digital Maxx Air Fryer/Oven. I need to see if I can find anyone who has used one, though. As RLSea said, reviews can be mixed.
