What are your preferred waterproof boat boots?

I guess it depends on the application? I never understood the use of "ankle high" - boat boots.. If I'm in my Ranger and its raining/wet ..I wear my Salomon Gore-tex hiking boots, I buy them a half size too big for plenty of room for cold weather socks and they keep my feet bone dry, they are great for lots of outdoor applications....If I plan to stomp around in the mud..grab my knee high boots (or waders) , LaCrosse.

In the fall, I wear Clark hiking boots with Gore-tex lining. I walk for exercise virtually every day year round in northern WI, and the hiking boots are my go to choice for outdoor activities in fall and most of the winter. Comfortable, dry and with a light pair of wool socks, plenty warm if the water is still soft.

I just don't like wearing higher boots under rain pants as they rub and chafe ( I have tried numerous boots and this always happens). When I wear a gortex style hiking boot if it is raining for a longer period of time I feel like they get a lot colder than other style boots with neoprene and rubber, even with woolies. I love the high Extratufs but just have never tried HUKs.

I like Sperrys ankle high boots. Rubber bottoms and leather uppers. I really appreciate Sperrys non slip soles. When its wet this is important facor for me. I also buy 1/2 size larger in order to allow for heavy wool socks.

Red Wing gore tex 6" boots treated with sno-seal. Used to work in a food processing plant and had to stand in water frequently. Feet never once got wet unless i stepped in 5" or deeper water.

I have both a pair of xtratuf and frogg Togggs ankle high boots. I really like the ankle high for all but the coldest and hottest weather. The xtratufs are lighter and keep my feet fairly cool, whereas the frogs are heavier and warmer. The ankle highs are handy for yard work and camp boots. For cold conditions I have gone to muck 3/4 boots. I use them for warmer hunting conditions also. For the hottest weather when I don’t care about getting my feet wet I use non slip croc swiftwaters with a closed toe.

Muck Boots, above the ankle high for me.. for the nasty days. They stay in the boat.
Gore Tex hiking boots for in-between weather.

Thanks guys! I think I'll go with the tried and true Xtratufs!

Few years ago, was in Alaska to build a shed for my sister and her husband at the their new off grid home on the water. SE Alaska lived up to its status as a temperate rain forest the five days I was there in early April. Worked long hours in a pair of borrowed extratufs off my brother in laws commercial fishing boat. Even shingled the shed in them. Out in the bush they are needed, but back in Juneau you see folks going into a department store in fancy jeans and Xtratufs. Guess they are a fashion statement as well, lol.

I wear water proof danner hiking boots. More comfortable than muck style boots and breathable.

When it's really cold I use Sportman's Guide side zips. They don't sell than anymore which is too bad, they are light, 2000 gram thinsulate, dry and warm. They still make the lace-up models but those are clunky in a boat. Until it's cold I use a pair of Merrell waterproof hikers, nice boot down to freezing.
