Travelled home from fishing on Saturday night and my center rod storage compartment cover is stuck shut. No issues throughout the day with it opening but temps did drop after wet conditions and now I'm unsure whether or not it is frozen shut or the lockable latch is busted - I don't know how the latch could've been bust though when I closed it at launch prior to trailering home.

After I get it somewhere to thaw and if it does not solve the issue, any recommendations on how to fix this and get it open? Thanks in advance

Let it thaw out, it should open. If not, take a small drill bit and drill the lock out and replace the lock. That's a last ditch effort! Good luck

Had that happen on my Lund a couple years ago, in November. Snow, then melt, than froze. Took a heat gun and carefully applied it to the latch, then using a glove opened it. Have to be careful, a heat gun can melt the the nylon carpet on your deck, and a glove will protect your hand from potential hot metal. After it cooled, I used small squirt of WD-40 directly into the lock to get rid of any remaining moisture. Seemed to do the trick.

I've used windshield deicer to thaw and open lids that froze due to carpeting freezing that was wet.

I had an inflatable life jacket deploy in the locker after a rainy day. It put enough upward pressure on the lid so I could not turn the latch to open the lid. Took some time to deflate enough to turn the latch to open the lid.

Had the center rod locker freeze shut on LOTW/Rainy River one March years ago. Funny how when there are big fish biting you find a way to get in there.
