Posts: 173 Location: Minnesota | I am looking to book a day with a guide for the first time on either Leech or Lake Minnetonka. Who would you go with?

I betting, though, he's enjoying his time now without the hustle and bustle and relaxing a bit more so maybe not. I'd bet even though he spent much of his time up at Rowan lake for many many years, he would still know where to go and what to do out there... Murph would be my suggestion as well... Posts: 1664 | I would think somebody at Thorne Brothers could fix you up with a Tonka guide.

Posts: 357 | I've fished with both Captains Bauerly and Murphy on Leech and i don't think you can go wrong with either of them. I'd also like to fish with Mr. Landervile at some point as I've also heard good things.

Posts: 409 Location: Almond, WI | I only know Murphy by reputation but he is highly regarded. For Minnetonka there's several options, but John Hoyer is the only one I've fished with and he was excellent. Ryan McMahon has a good reputation too, I have a few mutual friends with him. If you go to the MN Expo they'll be several guides, and you can get advice from Thorne Bros and Blue Ribbon.

Posts: 173 Location: Minnesota | I go to School at Penn State so I will not be able to attend the Muskie Expo. I live 5 minutes from Minnetonka and my family has a lake house in Remer, Minnesota but have never fished for muskies on leech. I have the opportunity to fish Tonka all the time but to take a guide out and gain better knowledge of spots and how to fish them would be awesome while learning a new body of water in Leech would also be very cool. Thanks for the recommendations so far!

Posts: 400 Location: North/Central WI | Joe Foxx is a good friend and a great choice for a guide on Minnetonka. You will have fun and I would bet that you will get a chance or two at a nice fish.

Posts: 408 Location: MN | Josh Borovsky is a great guide for Minnetonka. The guy has fished the lake for many years, knows it inside and out, and will tailor your trip to your personal goals. Some of the best money I've invested in muskie fishing was hiring him as a guide. He'll definitely show you spots and how to fish them, as well as how to identify other spots, seasonal patterns, etc. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

Did his master the metro package (4x 5 hr sessions across a season) to learn Tonka. By far the best money I've spent in the sport. His day job is a teacher and it definitely shows on the water.
