Anyone ever try to drill the side of a Go Pro Case to allow leaving a USB cable attached and can you record with the cable attached?

Search on ebay for an open door back for your Go Pro model. Then you can keep your current one waterproof. Hope that helps...

i have done this. My go pro is an early model and I can not record with it plugged in.

I drilled holes in mine (Hero4) for USB power, works great. Depending on your settings it will either charge while recording or greatly extend battery life. With the hole the cases are still pretty water resistant, just not waterproof.
