Has anyone had experience with using Mag 7 blades? Looking for feedback vs the standard Colorado 8's.

I’ve also gone to offering magnum #7 blades on the baits I make to those folks that prefer a more substantial blade in terms of being a beefier or heavier blade then a #8
Colorado blade (.025 thickness versus 0.18 thickness). These blades tend to keep their shape longer and provide a better thump IMHO then the conventional #8 Colorado blade.

I like .040 dbl 7 colorados.
Open every time, extra weight helps hair tails cast further & run deeper.

The only blades I use in the double 8 size. It's the same size as the lakeland mag 8. A little thicker and bigger, it's a great size.

Who makes the Mag 7, are there more than one and if so are they identical to each other or is one better, and where are they available? Thanks

Lakeland Mfg. used to make a heavier .040 blade, however they've had some difficulties as of late so I don't know if they still do. Trying to find a manufacturing source for them is proving difficult.
In any case I would steer clear of the .040 "deep cup" blades as they do not rotate properly. Just my 2 cents.

#7 .040" blades are available from Lure Parts Online. I don't know where they get them. Size designations of blades are not consistent. For instance Spanky's Fireball 8 is a little bigger profile than standard 8s. It is the same size as what LPO sells as 8.5. What some people call mag 8, others call 9. And so on...

The Mag 7 is made by Worth. It is the same size as the magnum 8 that Lakeland sells. It is a little bit larger than a "standard 8". Moore's Lures has them listed on page 10 of his catalog. It's a .025 thick blade compared to the .018 that the standard 8 is. It a good durable blade that has been a workhorse for my lures for years now.
