About 20 years ago I caught my first legal at 45.5inches. Not knowing any better I kept it for a mount. Now the gill plates are folding in and the some of the fin tips have broken off from moving. Can these be fixed and just a basic refurbishing done?

Agree with above. You should be able to get it fixed up. In the mean time, post a pic, we would be honored to challenge your size claim on the mount!:-)

Many taxidermists will repair mounts. If you are near Green Bay, Marc Charles at Second Nature taxidermy has done all of my work on other species.. (have not caught a muskie worth having a replica done yet) I've seen him do pike and muskies for other clients and his work is second to none- I know he does repair work as well.. If you aren't near GB, am sure most taxidermists could help you out.

Marc Charles would do a great job on your repairs.
Problem is you need someone close by to do your work properly. I would never ship a fish if it could be avoided.
Tell us where you're from to get some other suggestions that may be close by.
You also want to be sure to get a repair worthy of the quality of your mount.

Some of you sound like my wife ?ing my measuring skills. But I must say she was mad when she figured out how long 6inches was compared to what I told her it was.
