| Heck of a picture, but that guy is a wuss. I saw on an outdoor show once the guys were doing it in shorts and t-shirts. No gloves, nothing. Their hands were pretty hashed after about a dozen fish.
I do believe I will stick to casting and trolling for my catches. |

| I would say hand-landing a 30#er with a ten" Jake in its face is alot more challanging then a flat-headed whisker fish!Hooks and teeth make things MUCH more exciting! now thats manly _ _ it! Handy |

| Was quite a common practice as a tyke in Louisiana, but never tried it personally; all one needs to see is the missing fingers etc. from grabbing hold of a snapping turtle etc. Cottonmouths also presented a problem, as did the occasional drownings. Maybe the availability of basically year round warm water has something to do w/ it, or perhaps the lack of stuff to do!;) |

Location: Williamstown, WV | ok I'm gonna have to throw my 2 cents in here. Several guys do it in WV in our local creeks and let me tell you the power a big flathead has. I have seen grown men who could hardly get the fish out of the water. I've also heard stories of broken hands, wrists, and cuts. Now I've never done it, but I've seen it done and it's nuts. It takes a certain breed of redneck to do it, and I aint that breed. It takes a man to do it.
shawn
ps
a 30lb flathead taken away from sex is 100x grouchier than a 30lb musky with hooks in him |

Location: oswego, il | I seen that show on TNN, the host was with these two giant mutant hillbilly twins. Was funny, the one brother reaches in a hole, the river is muddy and you cannot see a thing. He feels two of them, reaches through the gills of one and into the others mouth, has two on one arm. He is under water for about 3min, the host gets nervous but the brother proclaims he will be up before too long. He made it up gasping with 50lbs of catfish on one arm. They find their share of snappers too. |

Location: NeverNever Lake | I have noticed that as human beings we all, men as well as women are thrill seekers in one way or another..I guess hunting is "hunting" no matter what form it takes on.......................................
Just something to "chew" on.
