Hi Terry, I have been thinking about trading my Merc 115 two stroke in for a 135. It still isn't clear if the 135 Merc Opti can be had with a tiller arm. Is there any news on the Merc 135 four stroke? Of coarse the other option would be to try and get the good folks at Tuffy to up the rating on the 1990 tillers to 140 and go with the Suzzie. I have been a fierce Merc loyalist but come on guys at Merc lets get with the program. What is your opinion on my options? Are you aware of the latest and greatest news from Merc?

At any rate mine is a 2001 Merc 115 two stroke tiller in excellent condition. Is currently running Amsoil and would come with a 19 pitch aluminum and/or a 20 pitch High Five. I have no idea what it might be worth but I have been known to be very reasonabele. If your friend is interested let me know and I will explore my options on a new motor. If your friend has a wheel I am sure getting controls, cables etc would not be a big problem.

How have you been? Hope all is well. Whats the news from the big pond? Are the Coho's or Loopers showing any sign of life?

Good Luck!

Since the 1990 Tuffy could easily handle a 140... they pre rig Merc so they pretty much stay with the Merc numbers. That's a good idea though. There's a whole lot of Tuffy guys running Suzis. I'll mention it to Steve Bendall on Monday.
If you've got some juice on Merc I'd like to hear it. I start Selling Tuffys again on the 21rst in Trego, WI and they handle Merc and Yamaha, for now. Alumacraft and Lowe in the aluminums and 2 brands of toons. E-mail me at: [email protected]
The guy I'm looking for a motor for wants a little bit older model. His took a crap and it might be a year or two before he can go with a whole new rig.
They did real well on the Loopers all thru March, but they start moving out now and the Cohos should be moving in as soon as we can get the ice to move. The big ships can hardly get out. We're chasing steelhead in the South Shore streams in WI the rest of this month till eye season opens. Pulled a couple 27" and 28" fish the last couple of weeks.
I'll let you know if there's interest in your motor.

Terry,

Glad to hear that you are back on board with Tuffy again. Hope it goes well for you. PLEASE do mention the re-rating idea to Mr. Bendall. Since I was partly involved in the 135 rating I will also send an e-mail to him. I always thought the boat should have had a 150 rating from the get go with the new hull. Love my Essox Deep V!

Good Luck.
