Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | So This may be a dumb question but why do guys only consider sucker fishing in the fall? Why would this not be a good technique in the summer or early season? I know in Sconny some guys will both cast and have suckers, but that is because you can have more then just the one line. But is it only because sucker fishing is less "exciting" or becomes boring? Just curious what guys say about it. A lot of us do very well every Fall on Suckers, so why not use em all season? |

| They are almost impossible to keep alive in summer time temps. And the fish tend to be much more active in summer so covering water with fast moving baits typically will help you contact more fish than moving slower and dragging meat. |

They are expensive.
They slow you down (good in the Fall, not cool in the Summer).
They don't survive well in warm water. |

Location: Contrarian Island | have caught lots of fish in May on them in Wisconsin over the years and have even used them in July/August w surface temps to 75... they work all year. |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | Is the heat issue more indicative of larger Suckers? Because I use the 6-7" suckers in the dead heat of summer for some of the best bass fishing around my area. For example.a few summers ago a buddy of mine and I spent over $300 on smaller - medium suckers in less then 8 hours because the bite was just on fire. Not musky tho, but still.
