| In the market to buy a few new sucker rods, just wondering what's out there for a decent price. Looking for something with good backbone, and also loads up well. Thanks! |

Location: Madison Wi. Chain | black river rods-live /troll 8ft. Great sucker rod, won't break and good for fighting fish. Can use them to cast or troll earlier in the year as well. BG |

| Depthmaster has some dipsy rods, 9 footers that are perfect for suckers and about $30. Heard that they were $10 at one point last year.
For more money, the Shimano Talora series is an excellent sucker rod too. |

Location: St Paul, Minnesota | I'd like to put the St. Croix Premier Glass Rod (PGM80HM) on the docket for consideration.
I got one last year and have spent the year using it as my dedicated Trolling/Sucker setup and I will say that I love it. It has a solid feel, the proper amound of backbone with a heavy power-moderate action, and the comfort of knowing the FiberGlass/Graphite blend of the blank should hold up better in super cold sucker fishing applications.

| Musky Innovations Livebait/Trolling 9' is best I have used. Gets great hooksets.

I discussed this with Lake St. Clair guide/captain and he said flat out: Don't waste your money on expensive rods for trolling muskies. Most of us are using Ugly Stiks; they're all you need.
(I bought a couple of the dipsey rods.)
