Location: Waukee, IA | I've heard nothing but good things about the phantom so I got a 7 1/2 inch softail and was eager to see how it stacked up against my go-to jerkbaits, hellhounds and suicks. After trying it out a couple times I guess I am left scratching my head. It doesn't dart anywhere like most jerks/gliders, just kind of pogo sticks through the water. Did I get a poor example of this lure or am I missing something?
How do you guys run them and what action does it achieve? |

| They are harder to work than hounds for me. You have a split ring and a wire leader with no snap? |

| The no snap helped me along with a split ring. Might try that and shorter taps. |

Location: Walker, MN | Try taps and throw slack back at the lure between taps. If you try to "pull" it like a suick or hellhound, your timing has to be perfect. |

Location: New Jersey | I get great action out of all my Phantoms. They don't have a steady glide that you'd find in a hellhound, but I think the erratic up and down and sometimes straight is what often triggers strikes. That being said, you should definitely be able to get it to go side-to-side. Make sure you're leave slack in the line and giving it a sharp enough twitch. Gliders vary immensely from brand to brand, so if you're trying to work it like a Hellhound you may not get the results you want. |

Location: Poynette WI. | It took me a little bit to figure out how to use it efficently, but I love it now. catfish is correct, It does not have nearly the glide range others gliders have. Working it eratically, fast, slow and letting it wobble down have been what works for me the best. I use it with my curado 300ej the most and can even work it with just the reel now, maybe a slight tap of the rod tip. I also have a single stand leader connected directly to a o ring on the bait. Just keep working with it and you'll get better with it each time. |
