My 115 optimax is on its third year and I have under 50 hrs on it. Should I change it when I winterize in a few weeks?

I change mine every year when I winterize. I am pretty sure it is only about a $ 25.00 part, so I put a new one in to start each year.

It doesnt matter the hours you have on it its the water in today's fuel/ethanol you have to worry about.
Replace before putting in storage along with lower unit lube.

I change mine in the spring, after I burn thru the treated fuel that sat there all winter, and stir up the sediment that settles on the bottom. No point in contaminating a brand new filter.

I just ordered mine from a shop on ebay. They included the removal tool for free. First one I tried to remove was a pain workout the tool - might be harder to remove after three years, so I'd recommend getting the tool for it and skip the screwdriver method.
