Location: Winfield,IN | Do any of you guys have experience with these two reels for throwing pounders? I have destroyed two shimano Corvallis reels with the mag dawgs and am looking for something $200 or less that will hold up to these beasts. |

Location: Waconia,MN | The Saltist is a beast of a reel, very heavy duty. Only down side to it, is that there is no spool brake. Not sure if the would matter with pounders. Never tried a lexa. |

| I own both and would stick with a saltist for pounders. You get used to the no spool brakes and after a while you won't even notice. The new black ones have an auto engage which is nice. I have used my Lexas for pounders many times but the saltist is absolutely bulletproof and the reel to have if its a dedicated pounder rod.

| I HAVE 2 OF THE SALTISTS AND THEY ARE AWESOME FOR BIG BAITS. I HAVE 100 LBS CORTLAND AND NO ISSUES WITH CASTING. PERSONALLY I THINK YOU COULD USE THE REEL TO WINCH IN YOUR BOAT IF NEEDED. |

Location: Winfield,IN | Looks like it's a saltist for me the only question is what size is easiest to cast and use? I was looking at the 20 series but thinkin maybe a 30 series |

| I like the thirty size but I have large hands. If you have smaller hands or if added weight is a concern I'd go with the 20. I believe there is a pretty nice black 30 size in the classifieds right now priced reasonably. |

Location: NE PA | I have both. The Lexa (5.1) I prefer for blades, the saltist for rubber. I have the black 20 model. Palming it is not an issue for me as I mostly use the foregrip for ripping big baits |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | I have never fished with a Lexa 400, only the 300, but I had a saltist 20, the new black one, and that thing was rock solid for mags and pounders. Due to the weight of the baits and how they move through the air, the lack of spool brake was never an issue for me. It's hard to beat the price and performance of that reel and if I ever have a dedicated mags and pounder rod, then I know exactly what reel I'm putting on it. I sold mine because I only have 2 setups, 1 for WTD/Gliders and 1 for everything else, and I didn't like the lack of a spool brake for blades or cranks, so I sold it and upgraded to a Tranx PG. but like I said, if I was putting together a setup purely for mags and pounders, this would be my reel. I had the 20 size and I don't see a reason to go with the 30. |
