Location: Athens, Ohio | Dudes, I've got some photos posted from the Cave Run outing. If you were any where near my boat, I might have one of you! Check my photo album. Some are not loading right, too many megabytes, so I need to get them re-formatted. Some now, more later.
The bad news: I got home and dropped my motor to drain any accumulated water, and the next day found a puddle of oil/water under it. My seals had gone out again. Took the Merc to another shop and found the guy that did my seals last month 1). only did the prop shaft seals and not the ones on the drive shaft, and 2). since I ran the motor with half water half oil for the last 4 days, my carrier bearing is about gone and needs replaced. I was told that the former mechanic's failure to use a few bucks worth of loc-tite may have been a contributing factor to water getting past the seals and back in my lower unit.
Looks like the Gambler's off the water for a bit until parts come in and I can sell all my kids' things to pay the fixit bill. Any good 9.9 hp muskie waters nearby? m | |
