In the past (unfortunately) I haven't had time to do much fall musky fishing. Work, Hunting, Kid Stuff, etc.

Anyhow I'm stepping up my fall fishing this year.

Is it too late for DC10's or are they still a viable presentation - how late in the fall can I go with this lure category before odds start favoring jerkbaits or plastics or whatever...

Thanks in advance for opinions/answers.

I stop throwing bucktails when fish stop eating them. Generally speaking I do slow them down as waters cool.

We caught fish on dbl10's right up until the lakes froze last year

Put a fat 49.5" in the boat on a double cowgirl in late November, a dpfew days before freeze up. I didn't think they'd work at that time but it did the trick that day.

At the fall Lake Vermillion outing two years ago there was a 40lber caught on a dbl8, and there was skim ice on the water in the mornings. If the fish are holding shallow dbl10s and dbl13s are a legit option.

My personal best was on a DCG 10 around halloween. I slow roll 10's, 12's, and 13's up until turnover. That works well for me. I feel after water gets below 60 there are better alternatives.

OK - kind of off topic here but can you explain - even briefly - what "slow roll" means?

Just enough speed to get the blades turning.
