Any place in Northern IL that carries a St Croix Big Dawg Full grip rods? Cabelas in Hoffman does not stock them nor does Bass Pro in Gurnee. After using my new 9ft premier 2pc rod I love the trigger and its a good rod but think the 8'6" BD would be the perfect length and weight for me.

Dave's bait and tackle in crystal lake is worth a call. They do carry legend rods.

Thanks for the suggestions! Daves has a split grip, Lees can order, the other 2 are closed or not answering.

Stopped by Daves and he had just got a new Big Dawg in, so I grabbed it. Thanks for the help its actually a really nice shop! They have a lot of muskie gear and pretty much every St Croix they make less one full grip Big Dawg. Think its my new favorite place and Dave is a great guy to BS with.

10s. and rubber is what I mainly use. Might start using it for large cranks and a a couple 13s that I barely use now. I have a 8ft XH premier with a NACL 6.4 for smaller stuff.

It's my favorite rod for 9's and 10's, also like it for 10" jakes, 10-12" suicks, and lots of other stuff, Imo one of the most allround rods i have tried.

Your gonna love it. I got one last week and threw it for 3 days straight. Best rod i've ever thrown. I don't throw pounders or anything over 10's and it throws anything else perfectly. I have a long ranger for small 6's and light topwaters or spinnerbaits. Big Dawg for everything else.

I have the Dawg w/ the 400D as well and it is sweet. The NaCL will be a nice reel w/ that rod as well. And you are right, the LT series are nice! Sold all my other rods and now only have LT's

Achotrod,Hope you do well on your Vilas trip and enjoy the new setup!

Do it... I have both and it's all you need.

Slinglade/Curado 300E for Slow to Medium blades and everything else but rubber

Big Dawg/Curado 300EJ for Fast blades, rubber, and big cranks

Couldnt resist and got the Sling Blade also, and paired it with a NACL 50 6.4. Really with these two combos I think Im set for a while.........well...... until that new Abu reel comes out.
