Hey everyone!

Just wanted to thank those who sent me emails and messages on the Cass Lake Tourn. I also want to thank my partner Jamie Schmidt. Jamie is on this board and posts as Esoxjunkie. He is totally the reason that I got the fish. His spots, his net job, his knowledge. Pick up the last issue of Esox Angler and you'll see an article by this Nebraskan Esox Junkie. You are gonna hear alot more out of Jamie he is a VERY good stick. Thanks again Jamie!

I wish Jamie was home so he could tell ya this one. Deep breakline to 20-25ft. Topwater off the shallow side (america) and the deep side (Canada)both fish came off the deep side in 20+ft. of water. Strange pattern but it moved alot of fish. Both fish came within 20 yards of each other. Also this area had water temps about 1 degree higher than the other spots we fished. We had almost all of the "Spots" to ourselves due to the fact of Jamie''s 20+ years on that lake. Best "guided" trip I ever had even if I was running the boat.

Strange pattern it was,but according to the tournament director, the Cass Lake event was won on the same pattern last year. While 'judging', I noticed a large concentration of baitfish and relating 'hooks' out over 55 to 80 feet, down 25 to 30. During the morning Saturday, the fish moved in to 18', and were definitely muskies.

I was on the south side of Cedar over the deep water areas and mid lake bars.[]

Tremendous fish, Mr. Cady!! You were definitely overdue, and had a great partner, to boot!

Ok guys, I'm starting to get a big head here. Let's set the record straight.

We fished a few spots that I have been fishing for years, that aren't real well known. Basically, we got up in the morning, and we went fishing. Everyone who has been fishing a certain lake for a good long time has "secret spots",(for Jason's sake we'll call them "spot X"), we fished mine. Steve swings a mean stick, and has a $10,000 Jackpot! The combination of Steve's intensity, and muskie know-how, and my knowledge of the lake was enough to get us the top prize.

As far as the pattern goes...Steve is telling the truth. The boat was sitting in 24' of water, and Steve's cast went off the Canada side of the boat when he caught the 52"er. The 45" was caught over 18' of water. Both were caught on the previously mentioned Jackpot.

All in all, it was an absolutely incredible weekend. Paul Hartman and his crew run a very professional tourney, and Steve Worrall is better with a mic than Bob Barker. Also, the accommodations at the Trees Resort were great as usual.

Looking forward to doing it again next year, only next time STEVE can be net man!

That's a $10,000 retired Jackpot. She won't see water again! On the wall she goes....

Steve forgot to mention that his brand spankin' new Beckman got broke in over the weekend in style.

NEVER forget the importance of dipping the net!

Thanks again Steve and everyone involved for a fantastic weekend.
