Location: New Hope MN | Anyone ever have prescription glasses made? I lose or break glasses so frequently I can't justify $400 for a pair. Are there any low cost options that you know of? |

| Good luck finding them for much cheaper than that. Depending on your prescription (mine is a -4.0) you'll be limited on what frames you can find lenses for. For example, Oakley only goes to -3.0 I believe (don't quote me on that). I used flex dollars on them to cut down on the cost some. I can say it's one of the best purchases I've made. I've found that since I paid a pretty penny for them, I take much better care of them than I ever did the cheaper sunglasses I had. |

Location: New Hope MN | How about some of these cheap China versions...? looks like you can get them with prescription, polarized and shipped for under $100. I bet they suck! haha

| I got mine for $150 a couple years back when I got new regular glasses but I think that was a similar BOGO deal as mentioned above. My vision insurance covers a pair of sunglasses every year I think but I've only gotten the one. If you have vision insurance check what they cover, if not, shop around at local vision centers and look for the best deal. I am so glad I got mine, it sure beats wearing glasses over glasses. |

| It took me awhile to make the decision to purchase polarized prescription sunglasses because of the cost but now that I have them it is one of the best investments I have ever made. I need bifocals and use progressive lenses. I have found prescription sunglasses with progressive lenses so much more convenient when you combine the need to cast, using your electronics and driving your boat. This is especially true if you are on the water for long periods of time. I have used cocoons and they work well and I will use them as a back-up but having one pair of prescription sunglasses is so much lighter. I use them for driving as well which is also an improvement. I purchased Ray Bans (great fit and lightweight) on a 2 for 1 deal and used my medical flex dollars. I don't think you will regret making this investment. |

Location: Western U.P. | Try this: www.zennioptical.com, and do a search for "polarized lenses".
or use this link: http://www.zennioptical.com/eyeglasses?Ntk=all&Ntt=polarized+lenses...
This place was recommended to my wife, and she just bought 2 pairs of regular glasses (the link above shows the search results for "Polarized Lenses", and they all look to be priced between $19 and $46). Didn't really believe the prices when she told me, but that's what they are. The website tools allow you to customize the fit, and you can upload a pic of yourself to virtually try on glasses. They are really inexpensive, and delivered quickly. So far they work well, and are holding up. |

If your post was not directed towards the one above it, no worries. If it was, please do share your knowledge of, or experience with that companies products, and why they are "crappy".
Just trying to help out a fellow Musky hunter looking for some info. |

| Cedar is correct! Think for a second, do you really believe there is $300. difference between their glasses and the high dollar brands? It ain't rocket science. Musky Glenn |

Location: Money, PA | Short answer....NO
When you get into prescription glasses, its expensive, let alone Polarization....I just had a pair of Nike made into Polarized Pre....Over $400! They also now have Polarized Transitions which I initially tried, but they have not perfected it yet...so I took them back! $600 wow! The Polarization just was not enough. |

Location: Yahara River Chain | I used to get mine from Wal-Mart and cost is about 100 for the lenses only (single vision) and the frames I had gotten there are about 45 (145 total).
I now get them at Sam's and they are about 75 for the lenses. At Sam's you can get mirrored coating (blue, green, silver, red, and gold) and that runs another 47.
Both will make lenses for your RXable frames you have.
Don't ask if they work better than the other name brands, what they heck do I know, I'm blind! |
