I have been using a Modified Joe Bucher quick strike sucker rig since the early 90s. I have increased the treble hook size and added a small green float to see it better. I have had good luck with it in the past however, from some reason this last fall, I lost a few fish and swore that I would try something better this year. I don't think that I would like to use a bobber or rubber bands though. Anyone have something that works well for them?

Get your self a #7 Split Ring. Thorne sells a good one.
Do some research on the Herbie Rig Nose Clip. You can buy them or make them out of bucktail wire. Attach to above Split Ring.
Get some Toothy Critter tyable wire (Or Tyger Wire) over 100#
Hook size depends on minnows. I use 18" + so I use Mustad 3551. Get two of those.
"T" both hooks so the braised on hook of the treble is no bent
Get some shrink wrap and some big safety pins. Shrink wrap safety pins to the shank of the treble, you want the catch of the pin opposite of the eye of the hook.
Use the tyable wire to tie a lead to the treble. (I think the clinch knot is the one to use on the hook, do not recall right now.) On th tag end tie a Surgeon's Loop.
You should now have two leads. Connect the Loops from the Surgeon's Loop to the Split ring.
There is your sucker rig.

I like to attach mine to a 3 foot 130# Flouro Leader. Attach to the split ring.

You can skip the safety pins and use a torch to bend one of the hooks out and pierce the minnow. I like the pins better, but opinions on this vary. Neither method is wrong.

Good Luck and remember the operative word in Quick Set is QUICK!

I'm a big fan of the shumway clip n' gos (easy to rig, pop off easy on fish) or just doing the Howie/Presque Isle rig for the ability to make my own.

I've been making my own similar to the Stealth Tackle double hook rigs, but with both trebles on one inline wire rather than 2 leads. Basically, it's a small single nose hook, with 2 trebles on the same piece of wire. So far it has hooked up reasonably well for me, and I can't think of anything more simple to rig up. I think it's even easier than the Shumway rig (though for store bought rigs, that's pretty good).

Awesome. Thanks for the replies and ideas. Looks like I'll be looking through the Musky Shop catalog tonight. My local gander mountain is pretty bare inregards to musky sized supplies.

I am excited to try a few of these out this fall
