My learning curve took a sharp incline this week. Highlights were:

* "When the daffodils bloom on Beaver Creek, it's Trap Time," Tony Grant.
* Norm Wild can be either
* Both the Hulberts are fishing machines, and neither has any qualms about moving in on your fish!
* Mike's Extreme's Ranger is a fish magnet, no other explanation is possible.
* Muskie fishing is definately a sickness; thanks, Ralph!
* It is possible to find nice spring weather for an MF outing.
* Mauser is a heck of a bass fisherman.
* MuskieFirst has some of the coolest people anywhere.
* Sponge can get ya laughin to the point your sides ache.
* It's just gonna take time on the water, patience, and a whole lot of naggin to get my first fish. Time's comin. soon. very very soon. m

Thanks you guys, had a blast. m

Mikie your time is comming. What a great bunch of people on this trip, everyone shared info and where fish were caught and raised. I was only on this pond once before so I was not too much help. Next year it will be different because I learned soooooo much about this lake and its potential. Thank you to everyone, I had a blast. Mikie you are welcome to fish with me anytime you want. Come up to my pond and I will get you on fish, it will be my treat.

I learned that:

Mikie and Mauser are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life.

Road Kill Chili will give you the worst gas for 2 days.

It is actually possible to have to sharp of hooks, I guess....

Only one trip to the hospital, and it wasn't because of Tony's cooking.

Dave_4 drives about 80 mph around the lake.

No matter how many times you hit a spot, the next person behind you will catch one.

There is no reason to leave Beaver Creek in the spring

The Sledge is a hell of a spring time bait, so much for using smaller lures in the spring.

Norm and Troy drink more whiskey than I do.

The south kicked the north's butt!!!!!!

Garlic-Honey brats are 100% gross.

Hulbert

I learned that;

Tony can really dial in a pattern on the Cave and makes an awesome road kill chilli

No matter how unconventional it may seem the Big Banana (sledge) catches fish in the spring

Mike's Extreme can flat out put fish in the boat and change my flat tire

Trolling motor parts are hard to find in Kentucky

Sponge is an awesome daggone dude, I just wish they had a bigger supply of muskie down there for him

Mikie will catch a fish, for some reason the muskie gods are holding a grudge right now

Mike Hulbert can catch fish, CANNOT cook garlic honey brats (those things were rotten), can drink whiskey, and should be ashamed of himself for stealing Mikie's fish.

Raze 1 has some of the coolest graphics I have seen on a boat

Jason and Steve do an awesome job setting up outings.

I had a great time down there guys, nice to meet all of you and put faces to names. Everyone shared as much info as possible on what was working and where and a lot of people had a great time. By the end of the outing it felt like I was leaving a group of close friends I have known for years.

Oh mighty Extreme One, your kind offer is cheerfully accepted. I can't seem to get your web page up, please check my profile and e-mail me some dates around 7/4 and we'll do this thing. I hope your offer is still good if I lose my virginity in the mean time. thanks so much, m

Look at it this way Mikie, our antics should give hope to even the most down and out folks attempting to catch fish; we stay the course amongst much light hearted abuse and ribbing, and will continue our quest regardless! We manage to have fun under the adverse conditions, and fishing w/ you and Raze makes even a fishless day a blast! You were so close Wed., and the fish were caught all around us. Crash and his crew told me where to head, and sure enough the fish were there, I just couldn't keep one on the hooks. Wild watching peeps catching on either side of you! One thing I did notice...it seems like the dude on the front of the boat usually got the fish, not always, but pretty much so. At any rate, a great time was had, and seeing Mauser again sure brightened me day!

I learned that if you sing, "Yes we have your banana's" while throwing the BIG BANANA, aka, The Sledge, the fish will come.

And sorry Norm, that wasn't my cooking that made those Honey-Garlic brats takes that bad, they were just plain aweful!

Things I learned, where do I start........

I learned that I don't think I ever meet a finer bunch of people than those that I've met thru this board.

I learned that a jerkbait will catch fish (never had any faith in 'em)

I learned that a bass will hit a 1 oz. Rattle trap

I learned that Mike Hulbert is truely a fishing machine

It's truely been a honor to have met the people that I have thru these outings. My thanks to Jason for the time I know I'll never forget.
To Steve for all that he's done , I know it's been a lot.
To Tony, be seeing you real soon, thanks for everything.
To Crash for all his hard work and putting on a great feed on Sat.
And last but not least to Mikie, had a blast buddy, let's do it again soon . Love to be with you when you catch your first, just to see the look on your face.

Hi Mikie,
Sounds like a fun weekend! We'll get you hooked up to a big one up in Canada!! Wouldn't it make you feel better if musky #1 is a 30 pounder?!

Sounds like at least you're seeing some fish, did you have any on the hooks for a short time?

And, any funny lure-landing-on-fishing-partner's-head stories?

Us hinterland fellas still have over a month to wait before the Wisconsin opener. For the next few weeks I'm hitting the river...maybe catch a mooneye or a sucker...with some luck I'll pull in a smallie or maybe even a walleye.

Later,
Papa Joe

Things I learned at the Cave

You do not have to fish around outhouses to catch fish like last year

Mike and Mike sure can put some fish in the boat, Mikie will bust his cherry this year(probably a 50)

There will definitely be a big banana in my box next year, or banana bread

Sponge is a funnier in person than one could imagine

Southern Fisherman have thing or two to teach us northern fisherman about on the water ethics

The whole group that put on the event did a great job.

Road kill chilli is pretty good, I just hope that it doesn't have any ingrediants from the cock fighting stories

There are definitely a fishing god, Norm sure had him watching over his shoulder, while the other one was kick the @#$%^ out of him, Just image how many more fish I could have netted him if we fished thursday

Don't eat Mikes kentucky brats(i think they were horse meat)

Rumor has it the ART PETER's is giving up musky fishing, and will lead the way to PCT (PRO CARP Trail), PS-Article in next IN-Fisherman Art's secret traps for big Carp

And to all that I met over this past weekend, it was truly a great pleasure meeting you, and spending time on the water with you. I wish it could have lasted longer, but unfortunately we need to go back to work.

Good luck

Troyz

I learned:

If you can stand fishing the same cove for 5 hours at a time you have a good chance of catching 2 or 3 fish.

If you are lucky enought to have a Big Banana in the boat, you partner will not get to throw it. Right Norm!

Fantastic trip is all I can say. Met some really great guys and putting a face to the board names is cool. The weather was a real bonus, great to get on some soft water this early in the year. Finally learned what a "Trap" was, had to borrow one from Teck. Mikie just keep chugging baby it will happen, especially if you let Hulbert run your boat. He can flat out catch fish. Sponge you are a trip, great to finally meet you. The debriefing after the days fishing on the porch with a few adult beverages was very informative. Can't wait till next year. Road kill chili brings out the best in a guy, if you know what I mean. Norm Wild, I saw that move on the highway, you must be a NASCAR driver, scared the heck out of Teck, he said "I'm not following that guy" All and all great fishing, great company, and mother nature smiled on us, what a trip.

Most I believe were throwing one ounce, but the other hot bait was a 9" Sledge. Not much similarity between patterns there but the fish were on both of them.
