Location: Oconto Falls, WI | As requested in another thread I started a thread on burping a musky.
Not sure I will have a chance to make a video, plus I stink on film, but here are two explanations on how to do it. One is relative to trout and salmon and includes how to aid in getting them to swim away.

Here is a thread on fizzing, but talks about burping a bit.

My story of a belching musky that did it on it’s own.

| We used to carry fizzing needles when tourney fishing walleyes on deep lakes, like Lake Erie and Green Bay. I stopped doing it after a partner fizzed one, and the livewell turned red with blood. Needless to say, that fish died, and we were docked a half pound. After this, I started putting snap weights on the pectoral fins of the fish, to keep them upright in the livewell, and that really worked quite well. Maybe this would work for a muskie? I'm sure the snap weights would have to be larger than 2 oz!

| I'd be afraid to apply any pressure to their tummies. Most of the ones I catch #*#* all over me as it is.
On a more serious note... Travis, have you ever encountered a musky that needed to be burped? Anyone else? |

| Very small hook just nicked in the lip and enough weight to get her down. When you feel she is deep enough just rip the hook out. Small enough hook should either bend or rip out. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I burped a muskie once when I was younger. Had been swimming on a small lake, and kinda gulped a little water. Next thing I knew... |
