I am considering buying one of the new Diawa Lexa 400. I plan on using it as an all purpose reel. Should I get the high Speed or the power? Thanks WH

My preference is the 6.3 which only comes in one handle option.

It’s kind of personal preference. If you plan on throwing a lot of 10’s and 13’s, then I would say go with the power one, but someone else might be fine with the high speed one for 10’s and 13’s… However if you’re mainly going to throw 8’s, jerkbaits, gliders, cranks, and swimbaits, then I’d probably get the high speed.

5.1 still does 27 IPT and makes bringing in 10s almost effortless. In addition, the lower gear ratio should be more stout and handle the bigger baits without turning into a coffee grinder. I've put a full season on mine so far and have zero issues.

Love the 5.1 for big blades!

I would like to see opinions on this too. I have a Toro winch that pulls 10's easy enough but not fast enough. Left handle is for me so a Tranx is not an option. Need fast retrieve and easy if possible??

5.1:1 gears is what I use for all Blades, the 6.3:1 I use for fast line pickup on jerk baits or topwater. If U use the 6.3:1 gears for Blades your reel will sound like a coffee grinder after a year of use.

Does that include double 8's or is that double 9's and bigger?

I use a 5.1:1 for all blades.
