Hi everyone,

First time doing this but I thought to give it a whirl. I am heading up to cedar Lake in Aitkin, MN my family has a cabin there. Relatively new to musky fishing and I have tried a number of things on this lake and am having little luck. The lake is deep with steep drops and water deeper than 100 ft. We have pulled 2 out this year on top water but if anyone has any suggestions on general target areas it would be a major help. Taking my little brother musky fishing for the first time and I want to get him hooked! Thank you!

Some believe the lake is "down" for the last 5 years or so. The fishery there has evolved and an open water fishery has developed. Get a couple casts off the weed edge and use your electronics to locate baitfish schools. If they are " high and tight", I'd be smiling. Put a bait in front of them and hope they eat.

I am going to be on Cedar this weekend. I have been out every weekend this summer and have raised about 8 fish total but no luck. The lake has really awesome points and weed edges. Ill be out there Sat morning for sure, look for a little alumacraft with a guy standing in the very front. Got a 15 HP Johnson on the back lol.
